Cellist Edvard (Eddie) Pogossian is currently a freshman studying with Natasha Brofsky at the Juilliard School. Growing up in the Detroit area, he moved to the West Coast a few years ago with his family. He has studied with Paul Cohen, David Garrett, and Rick Mooney, and most recently spent two years studying with Ronald Leonard at the Colburn Young Artists Academy. He won first prize in the annual LAVS (Los Angeles Violoncello Society) competition as well as the regional and sectional rounds in the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) competition. He was also the winner of the inaugural Los Angeles Philharmonic Young Artists Competition (2011) giving him the honor of performing the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in Walt Disney Hall, under the direction of Thomas Wilkins. Eddie has performed live on KUSC soloing with the Colburn Chamber Orchestra, and recently performed Saint-Saens' "The Swan" with the Moscow Ballet at Wiltern Theater. He was the principal cello of the Crescenta Valley High School's Symphony Orchestra as well as the Colburn Academy Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. He is a recipient of the 2014 AGBU Performing Arts Fellowship, and will make his Weill Recital Hall debut at Carnegie Hall in December 2014 in an annual NYSEC/AGBU concert. Eddie is a long time participant of the Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival in New Hampshire, and has also attended the Heifetz International Institute of Music, Pinchas Zukerman's Young Artists' Program in Ottawa, and the Meadowmount School of Music, studying with Clive Greensmith, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Lynn Harrell, and performing with violinist Joseph Silverstein. He is a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School.
